Alberta milestone demonstrates the fastest-growing QSR brand's national momentum and unwavering dedication to local communities
TORONTO, Sept. 10, 2026 /CNW/ -- Firehouse Subs, the firefighter-founded hot sub brand known for its commitment to community impact, has officially opened its 200th restaurant in Canada. The landmark location in Calgary, Alberta marks a full-circle milestone: Alberta was home to the 100th Firehouse Subs Canadian restaurant, meaning the brand has doubled its national footprint since 2024.
Franchisees Cody Gosling and Mitch Turgeon brought Firehouse Subs to Alberta with their first restaurant in Okotoks. This latest opening marks the duo's sixth restaurant with the brand, a proud achievement for their families of multi-generational quick-service restaurant entrepreneurs. Their continued growth with Firehouse Subs reflects the brand's expanding presence across Canadian communities and its commitment to serving high-quality food while building meaningful connections rooted in community and public safety.
"Okotoks is where it all started for us, so being part of restaurant number 200 feels incredibly special," said Cody Gosling, Firehouse Subs franchisee. "We're thrilled to celebrate with a fantastic afternoon, including a free Hook & Ladder® sub for the first 200 guests, a Calgary Flames ticket giveaway, and a grant ceremony for our local fire station. Supporting this community and the first responders who keep it safe is what this brand has always been about."
The opening supports Firehouse Subs® broader growth strategy across Canada, underpinned by operational efficiency, innovative restaurant design and comprehensive franchisee support.
"We're so proud to open our 200th restaurant in Canada," said Mike Hancock, President of Firehouse Subs. "Nobody makes a hot sub better than we do, and we love bringing our sandwiches to new communities. The part that matters most to me is what this growth does for our Public Safety Foundation. Across Canada, our restaurants and guests have helped fund more than $6.3 million in lifesaving equipment for first responders. To celebrate our 200th opening, we're donating $54,389 to the local Redwood Meadows Fire Station, which suffered a devastating station fire at the end of 2025. The funds will help replace hydrant related equipment lost in the blaze. Every new restaurant means we can do even more for the people who keep our communities safe."
That support reflects the Firehouse Subs brand's longstanding commitment to first responders, a mission that extends across North America. To date, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded more than $115 million in lifesaving equipment and resources.
As the brand prioritizes high-potential markets across Canada for its next phase of growth, Firehouse Subs is actively seeking experienced, mission-oriented operators, with a focus on awarding franchises to multi-unit operators and disciplined single-unit owners
